@JoshuaTreeEscapes The Sunset Road House is an original homesteader cabin built in 1958 and expanded on in later years. We recently did a total renovation (down to the studs!) on this mid-century gem so it has every modern amenity for you to enjoy. It sits on 5 gorgeous acres which you can explore during your visit. You must drive a couple of unpaved roads to access the house but no visitor has had a issue so far, Prius included! Local residents include rabbits, roadrunners, turtles, coyotes and all manner of desert creatures. Our favorite thing about the property is that it truly feels like you are in the middle of nowhere. Check in and tune out :) The large, open concept living space has a modern kitchen, dining space and living room area. There are two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The master has a king bed (with en suite bathroom) and the second bedroom has two twin beds which can be converted into a king, at your request. The second bedroom also has a full bathroom. The home works well for a group of friends, two couples, or small families. If you need accommodation for more guests we also have a recently renovated vintage travel trailer available for rent near by. Feel free to inquire about our other properties! The Sunset Road House is about a 12 minute drive to downtown Joshua Tree (fun shops, restaurants & bars) and a 15 minute drive to the Joshua Tree National Park Visitors Center at the west entrance of the park. In addition to hiking, we are close to the renowned Integratron (a healing sound bath experience) or enjoy a tour of the Gubler Orchid Farm. If you are looking for a little action, head on over to Pioneertown (25 min drive) and visit the Old West movie set before dinner and drinks at the famous music venue, Pappy & Harriet's . You might even get lucky and see The Rolling Stones do a set! At The Sunset Road House there is both a bocce ball court and a horseshoe pit... or do absolutely nothing and lie on the chaise lounges, looking out at the expansive desert by day and/or soaking in the hot tub at night under a blanket of stars. Take in the desert air in the private outdoor shower whenever it strikes your fancy or hop in the pool (unheated) with a cocktail to enjoy the spectacular sunsets!
Other Details to Note
-- Do not leave any door open unattended and make sure to close doors/screen doors tightly behind you! There have been a lot of critters out this season already, scorpions, lizards tarantulas, and snakes so please be cautious! -- No filming or photo shoots for commercial purposes or parties, weddings, or other events with 10+ attendees without express written permission. -- You are not permitted to have any guests on the property beyond those included in your rental agreement unless you request and receive permission from us. That includes day guests and over night guests. -- Please be mindful of the California drought and keep water use to a minimum. -- No smoking in the house. -- Please let us know if you are bringing a pet. A $50 pet fee per pet applies. We will send you a payment request prior to your stay. Always supervise your furry friends when outside. We recently completed a massive renovation and the possibility of glass, nails, screws or other sharp building materials on the ground outside is high. -- No bare feet outside. Don't leave shoes outside. -- Children and pets must be supervised by an adult at all times. -- No tampons or other foreign objects flushed in toilets or down drains because we are on a septic system. -- A bundle for firewood will be supplied for the indoor fireplace, please use with caution and do not leave burning unattended. -- Please ensure that you SECURELY fasten the top to the hot tub after each use. The wind will take it away otherwise! -- Please do not disturb any of the wildlife like the wonderful bunnies, jack rabbits lizards, tortoises, quail and chuckwallas. • HOT TUB/POOL (pool is unheated) The hot tub/pool guy comes every Tuesday and Friday for maintenance. He won’t need to come inside the house but will be in back in the backyard and will do his best not to infringe on your privacy. -- Water is delivered every two weeks. You will hear the truck coming from a couple of miles away. Again, he will not disturb you :) • Hot Tub/Pool - legal *note that pool is unheated 1. Hot tubs and pools, while providing exercise, recreation, and relaxation, also can be dangerous. People (as well as pets) can be severely injured or drown if the pool is not properly used. Guests are strongly cautioned that they, other occupants and guest's guest must adhere to the following safe practices: •No diving into the hot tub/pool •No intoxicated persons may use the hot tub/pool •No one should use the hot tub/pool alone as there is no lifeguard on duty •Children may never be left unattended when they may gain access to the hot tub or pool, not even for a few seconds Neither the host nor the host's agents can assure the safety of persons using property containing a hot tub or pool. As a consequence, guests assume liability for hot tub/pool use by themselves, other occupants, their guests, and their pets. 2. For this rental the following must also apply: •Adult supervision is required for anyone under the age of 14. •All drinks must be served in unbreakable containers. •No excessive noise - please be considerate of your neighbors. 3. NO LIFEGUARD WILL BE ON DUTY - YOU SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK 4. Guest agrees to release, indemnify, hold harmless and forever discharge Host and Host's employees, agents, successors and assigns from any and all claims, liabilities or causes of action of any kind that guest, members of guest's household or guest's guests or invitees may have at any time against Host or Host's agents resulting from guest's use of the hot tub/pool. By renting this property, guest acknowledges that they have read, understand and accept the terms listed above for use of the hot tub/pool and all policies above.
